RRD WaveTwin 90 tests:

Windsurfing Magazine April 2010

Before reading the test below (if you have not read it in the magazine yet), let me point out a few things:

In the octagon graph (not a big fan) it shows the tremendous speed potential - second fastest board in the test - and maximum score on early planning and pure wave performance. The board receives lots of praise for its wave riding ability and super snappy turning, earning it a pick as one of the Waves Test Favorites. The unique combination of these characteristic make the WaveTwin boards so popular not just for wave sailing, but also in the Gorge, SF Bay and many other flat water and B&J spots around the world.
These are lively but controllable boards that are incredibly entertaining in all high wind conditions. As all RRD boards, they are very forgiving in the turns and smooth through chop. The broad appeal of this board is also illustrated by the fact that 190lbs Dave Troup, the only expert tester that participated picked the RRD as one of his favorite boards but so did a 145lbs intermediate tester as well as a 210lbs advanced tester. The appeal of this board goes waaay beyong 'wave sailing purists who want a board that will float them out in light wind'.

If this board is clearly faster and planes sooner than any of the quad boards and even the freestyle wave boards in the test, why is it "less suited for flat water 'blasting' than the quad boards"?
If the only expert tester picked this as one of his favorite boards, why do other boards score higher on the Expert Test Concencus rating?
