A & O Sports
When brainstorming with my wife Natalie about names for the business, we went through the typical combinations of initials of all family members and one of those was A & O for our daughters Amanda and Olivia. As soon as we said it Natalie pointed out that in her native German 'The A & O' is a way of saying 'the essentials' or 'the key ingredients' or 'the most important'. This has roots in the Greek alphabet where Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the alphabet so it is like saying 'A through Z', or 'encompassing everything' as well. This made us pick A & O Sports, in essence naming the business after our daughters while at the same time stating that we specialize in the key ingredients for sports.
